It’s reckless homicide and involuntary manslaughter charges for the man blamed for a deadly crash in LaPorte County.

It was back in July 2020 when prosecutors say 60-year-old John Niego caused the collision in the 8200 block of U.S. 6, which killed 29-year-old Taren Abair.

The Fatal Alcohol Crash Team conducted the investigation which led to the arrest warrant for Niego, who turned himself into police.
