Agreement reached targeting business protections in Indiana

An agreement has been reached on limiting the authority of county or city health departments, which lets local elected officials overturn orders or enforcement actions issued during emergencies.

Tuesday’s agreement requires local public health orders stronger than one issued by the governor must be approved by a county or city board.

Republican supporters say the agreement is designed to protect the rights of businesses.
