Mask mandate in Michigan now includes children as young as 2

Children aged 2 to 4 are now a part of the mask mandate in the State of Michigan.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced the age expansion earlier this month in response to the recent spike in COVID cases around the state. Previously the rule had only been extended to children as young as 5.

Recent data in Michigan shows that child infection rates are higher now than they’ve been at any point during the pandemic.

Health officials are encouraging parents to take a creative approach to getting children that young to wear a mask, possibly making it into a game.

The latest mandate is in effect through May 24.

Does your fetus need to wear a mask if you are getting an abortion or only if you are planning to deliver? Asking for a friend.
