Mishawaka man struck, killed by vehicle on U.S. 421 in LaPorte County

A Mishawaka man was struck and killed by a vehicle in rural LaPorte County.

The collision happened just before 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27, in the area on U.S. 421 and County Road 870 South in rural Clinton Township.

A 21-year-old Knox man who was behind the wheel of the passenger car told police he had struck the man, who was standing in the southbound lane of travel of U.S. 421.

The pedestrian, Tierus D. Lucas, 36, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Factors into the collision are still being determined.
