One of Michigan City’s South Shore stations is closing for reconstruction

The South Shore Line will temporarily close the 11th Street Station in Michigan City, and it’s going to stay that way for a while.

The closure happens Saturday at 3 a.m. and is expected to last for two and a half years.

The station will be closed for re-construction that includes a multi-story building featuring retail, parking and more. There will also be new high-level platforms and improvements to the track.

Michigan City’s Carroll Avenue Station will remain open.
