Child, 2, in South Bend suffers gunshot wound to the hand

A two-year-old child shot suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the hand.

The shooting happened late Monday morning, May 10, at Emerald Point Apartments on Generations Drive in South Bend.

The toddler’s injuries are not believed the be life-threatening. The child was taken to the hospital for treatment.

St. Joseph County Police detectives are investigating the circumstances that led to the gunfire.
