The South Bend Community Schools have been state-certified for a career program.
Students will receive a real-world experience while getting an education. WSBT reports that the State Earn and Learn program, or SEAL, is a state-funded program preparing students with community employment and partnerships. At the same time, community employers are being paid to train students in the program.
The first SEAL program is in medical sciences and has students working is certified nursing assistants. Future programs will include dental, welding and aviation.
