The collision happened around 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, in the on eastbound lanes about 4 miles west of the Howe exit.

As a result of this crash, an Illinois family of three, traveling to Pennsylvania, were injured and transported to Fort Wayne and LaGrange County hospitals, and the Minnesota driver that caused the crash has been arrested and is facing O.W.I. related charges.

The trooper’s investigation shows Jon Marcus McGlory, 37, of Minneapolis, MN, was driving a green 2000 Ford Expedition westbound on I-80 near the 118 mile marker when he lost control of his vehicle after falling asleep and swerved to miss an orange construction barrel.

The Ford Expedition left the roadway to the south, crossing through the grass median, entering the eastbound lanes of I-80, and crashed into a white 2021 Volkswagen passenger car driven by a 48-year-old Des Plaines, Illinois, man.

Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and rolled over several times after impact.

The man, his wife and his 3-year-old son all sustained injuries during the crash. The toddler’s injuries were described as serious.

McGlory sustained only minor injuries.

Trooper’s found McGlory to have a preliminary breath alcohol concentration of .117. McGlory was released from the hospital and then transported to the LaGrange County jail where he was booked into custody on several preliminary charges related to Operating While Intoxicated.
