CareSource Indiana is providing a new opioid disposal option to its members.

Last month the non-profit health plan announced a partnership with DisposeRx, an at-home eco-friendly disposal medical company. It’s an effort to fight opioid misuse and accidental poisonings by allowing for safe disposal at home.

The company provides packets that can neutralize the medication and render it useless. CareSource offers DisposeRx at-home medication packets to Indiana and Ohio members and also plans to expand the availability to their other markets throughout the year.

CareSource members do not need a prescription to obtain DisposeRx packets.
