Warning to stay out of Lake Michigan on Tuesday

(Jon Zimney/95.3 MNC)

The National Weather Service in northern Indiana is urging people to not swim in Lake Michigan on Tuesday, June 15.

Cooler temperatures and gusty winds will create waves up to five feet tall, creating “life-threatening” conditions to anyone who enters the water or walks on piers.

Beautiful sunny weather lasts through Thursday, then a much-needed chance of rain Friday. The humidity will stay low through Wednesday then surge Thursday and Friday, with a heat index nearing 90 to end the week. As quickly as the humidity surges, it will fall again for the weekend. Friday is the only chance of rain this week, scattered showers and thunderstorms Thursday night into Friday.

The breezy weather continues Tuesday, leading to more chopping conditions in the afternoon. The best beach day this week is likely Thursday when it will be the hottest and calmest.

Tonight: Clear. Low 56.
Tuesday: Sunny. Breezy. High 78.
Wednesday: Sunny. High 78.
Thursday: Partly cloudy. High 88.
