LaPorte teenager killed in tubing incident in North Carolina

A LaPorte teenager died in a tubing accident in North Carolina.

14-year-old Sophia Wilson and two other people died when the tubes they were on went over a dam on the Dan River in Rockingham County, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

An employee with Duke Energy saw four people clinging for life on the dam the next day and called authorities.

Search teams were able to rescue the four, including another 14-year-old from LaPorte.

A search is underway for two other people.
