Man, 27, killed in early Saturday morning shooting in Elkhart

A 27-year-old man was killed in a shooting in Elkhart.

Officers with the Elkhart City Police Department were called around 5 a.m. on Saturday, June 19,  to the 500 block of 5th Street on the report of a shooting with injuries.

Officers arrived on scene and located the victim who had suffered apparent gunshot wounds.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers secured the scene and called in Detectives from the Elkhart County Homicide Unit to work the case.
