Indiana State Police are, once again, issuing an alert for drivers to pay attention when approaching construction zones after a crash on the Indiana Toll Road.

The collision happened late Tuesday afternoon, June 22, in LaGrange County when the driver of a semi pulling a car hauler failed to recognize stopped traffic alert of him and smashed into the back of another semi.

The force of that collision then caused the rig that was hit to crash into a dump truck.

The driver who police say caused the crash was trapped in the wreckage for quite a while. Once he was freed he was airlifted to a hospital in Fort Wayne. He is expected to survive.

The westbound lanes of the toll road were shut down for nearly four and a half hours while crews worked to clear the vehicles and crash debris.
