Lower test scores in Indiana may be a side-effect of COVID-19

The 2021 statewide test scores have been released, and Indiana students have fallen behind.

The Indiana Department of Education’s report shows a significant decline in each testing area: Math, English, Science, and Social Studies.

The department’s report shows only 28-percent of students passed the Math and English parts of the test.

It also shows that fewer than one-third of elementary and middle school students are on track to graduate high school prepared for college.

It was a decline that department officials expected, and one that they say may take years to make up.
