It was a close call for a South Bend Police officer who was nearly struck by a driver behind the wheel of a stolen car.
Officers with the South Bend Police Strategic Focus Unit identified a stolen vehicle that was traveling at a high rate of speed on Bonfield, on Thursday, July 22.
The vehicle pulled into a gas station at Sheridan and Western and officers initiated a traffic stop. But, the suspect took off from the scene after ramming a police car and narrowly missing one of the officers, according to the police department.
The chase began and, when it ended, the suspect, Taleo Halbert, was arrested and booked into the St. Joseph County Jail on preliminary charges of resisting, criminal recklessness, possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, battery on a police officer, and leaving the scene of a crash.

It is tragic, the political screams about the cruel Police. They as in this example, put their life’s at risk to maintain law and order against the evil entitled wolfs running loose.
