The City of Elkhart is denying responsibility for a fatal crash in 2017.

Five people were struck in the crash on East Beardsley, and a lawsuit against the city claimed that Elkhart officials neglected to take care of the area where the crash happened, despite knowing it was dangerous.

The Elkhart Truth reports that a driver asleep at the wheel was responsible for the crash, and he and his wife were charged in connection with the crash and accused of trying to hide their vehicle after the fact. Three people were killed and two others injured. The driver, Leonard Grosswiler, was sentenced to 15 years.

The lawsuit accused the city of failing to maintain the sidewalk despite being aware that cars frequently drove over the curb at the spot of the crash. A hearing on the motion is set for September 24.

How can they blame the city for that? If I remember the story , the ppl were drunk then hid the car and it took the police awhile to find them. They just dont want to take the responsibility for what they did. And now they are trying to, figure out away to stay out of jail. Take the punishment that was given you, and accept it.
