Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office warns of another spoofing scam

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office says there is another phone scam in which the scammers appear to be from the sheriff office on caller I.D.

They say the fraudsters are, again, demanding payment and that they will give a number of reasons for people to believe that they owe money to the sheriff’s office in the form of gift cards.

Officials want everybody to know that police would never contact you in this manner and would never ask for gift cards.

Anybody with information on scammers using this method is asked to contact the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office at 574-891-2100.
