The first-ever Niles Cannabis Music Festival at Riverfront South Park is set for Saturday, July 31.
There will be plenty of security, with dozens of guards and Niles city police officers helping keep those who don’t have a ticket off the festival grounds.
The South Bend Tribune reports state law says marijuana products must be kept out of public view, so there will be designated tents for consumption.
While five area bands play on stage, ticket holders can purchase and use marijuana products and sample munchies from local food trucks. Saturday’s event is a test, of sorts, for future events.
City leaders say if all goes smoothly a second, larger event can take place in late September.
There’s no alcohol allowed and everybody who attends must be 21 or older.
Tickets start at $100 each and must be purchased ahead of time.
