Sex offender charged for allegedly living across from school

A sex offender has been charged for illegal sex offender residency after he was found allegedly living across the street from a school.

John Tarwacki, 44, registered as a sexually violent predator in St. Joseph County early last year, but failed to complete his 90-day registration and update any information with the St. Joseph County Sex Offender Registry.

Tarwacki was convicted on two counts of child molesting by the St. Joseph County back in 2001. Since then, Tarwacki was convicted of failure to register by the Elkhart Superior Courts in 2016 and convicted of failure to register as a sex or violent offender in 2019, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

He was found to be living across from a school, which is prohibited, since he’s a lifetime registry requirement as a sexually violent predator.
