Serious injury crash in Berrien County

The Berrien County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle crash just before 5:00 p.m. Monday.

According to Police, witnesses say that a vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed west on US 12 near Grand Avenue when it lost control.

The vehicle left the road, striking a fire hydrant, a residence,  a large rock, several trees, and a parked car before finally coming to rest upside down.

Police say the driver was extracted and transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

Officers believe that alcohol is a factor in the crash.
