A Dowagiac woman was injured in a crash in Cass County.

The collision happened around 5 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21, in the area of Marcellus Highway and Atwood Road in Wayne Township.

The investigation shows that a 2009 Dodge Journey driven by a 22-year-old woman struck a tree head on.

The passenger in the vehicle, a 36-year-old woman from Dowagiac was taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for treatment of injuries.

At this time it is unknown if seat belts were worn.

Alcohol and/or drugs may have been a factor, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
