Jaheim Campbell found not guilty of murder, attempted murder in 7-year-old girl’s death

The man who prosecutors say killed a 7-year-old girl, last year, in South Bend, has been found not guilty of murder and attempted murder.

It was nearly one year ago to the date when Chrisyah Stephens was struck in the head by a bullet in a drive-by shooting in the 800 block of East Donald Street.

Prosecutors argued that Jaheim Campbell pulled the trigger in an attempt to shoot at another man, only to hit Chrisyah instead.

The defense argued that Campbell was not the trigger man and that another man’s fingerprints were found on the magazine of the gun. They also argued that Campbell was ‘coerced’ into talking to detectives and intimidated, telling multiple, different versions of what happened.

The jury deliberated for nearly 8 hours before coming to the not guilty verdict.

Let’s see, someone obviously shot Chrisyah. Someone else’s fingerprints on the magazine only indicates that someone other than Jaheim handled the magazine. So someone else loads the magazine, inserts it in the gun and tells Jaheim to shoot another man and because he’s a lousy shot he hits Chrisyah. Or was the prosecutor unable to place the gun in Jaheim’s hand at the time of the shooting. There is a whole lot the media is not telling us either because they don’t know or are too lazy to investigate. A 7 year old is dead and someone has some ‘splaining to do Lucy. Have you genius’s ever realized you could just throw stones at each other instead of shooting bullets at each other from moving cars? A young girl is dead because “adults” can’t get along. Grow up! Unfortunately we know how this will play out, next week or some other week, someone will get revenge on Jaheim and the cycle will repeat.
