Man found dead inside burned out home on Kern Road identified

A man who was found dead inside a home destroyed by fire, last week, has been identified.

St. Joseph County Police have reason to believe the fire might have been intentionally set by the victim, Paul Rerick, 69.

Fire crews and police were called around 2 a.m. on, Friday, Aug. 27, to the 22000 block of Kern Road on reports of an explosion and fire.

St. Joe County Police and the State Fire Marshall continue to investigate all possibilities surrounding cause and expect the full investigation to take 8-12 weeks before any final determinations can be made.
