An Elkhart teenager faces a charge of attempted murder in connection with a shooting that happened in July.

15 year-old Marshon Robinson was formally charged Wednesday in Elkhart Circuit Court. According to police, Robinson is accused of shooting a 19 year-old man in the 1300 block of Benham Avenue on July 28.

Police found the victim in an alley, and determined that he’d been shot twice. Officials say one of the wounds was within millimeters of his femoral artery, which would have likely been fatal.

Robinson was formally charged with attempted murder on Tuesday and waived into adult court. He could face up to 40 years in prison if found guilty.
