Topeka man, 51, arrested for child solicitation, attempted sexual misconduct in Goshen

Police in Goshen are reminding parents and guardians to monitor their children’s activities on social media and the internet after the arrest of a Topeka man on sex-related crimes.

The following release was sent to 95.3 MNC from the Goshen Police Department:

On September 5, 2021, at 8:33 p.m., officers arrested James York, a 51-year-old male from Topeka, for Child Solicitation and Attempted Sexual Misconduct with a Child.

He was arrested at 411 W Plymouth Avenue following a proactive investigation utilizing social media and a peer-to peer chat app.

Following his arrest, Goshen Police worked with LaGrange County Sheriff’s office to obtain and conduct a search warrant of his home where multiple cell phones and electronic devices were found.

Mr. York is a registered sex offender.

Goshen Police will continue to be proactive with investigations involving human trafficking and sex crimes.

We would like to remind everyone with children to monitor their actions on the Internet. Be aware of the apps your child has on their phone and keep talking with your children about the dangers of communicating with strangers.
