Elkhart County woman facing a neglect of dependent charge

An Elkhart County woman is facing a neglect of a  dependent charge in after allegedly leaving a 2-year-old child unattended.

It was mid-morning on Monday when a corporal with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office was called to the 28000 block of Broad Street.

This after a witness reported seeing a two-year-old boy outside the home, climbing over a chain-link fence without any adult supervision.

ABC-57 News reports neighbors complained to officers that wasn’t the first time they’d seen young kids at the home without being supervised.

Police were able to get into the home and found it dirty, in disarray and a child handling a knife.

Through their investigation, police made contact with another woman, identified as Tiffany Phillips and placed her under arrest.

The Department of Child Services removed the children from the home.
