Mishawaka man due in court for arraignment today for allegedly robbing his uncle at knifepoint

A man is due for arraignment today after allegedly robbing his uncle at knifepoint and removing the victim’s oxygen.

It happened Sunday when Mishawaka Police were called to the 2000 block of Normandy Drive for a medical alert.

Police arrived and peered through a window where they reportedly saw Gregory Spurgeon screaming at the victim and waiving a flashlight in his face.

Police entered the home when the victim began screaming for help.

Officers tried to take Spurgeon into custody, but, he had to be tackled to be placed in cuffs. He fought officers all the way to the police car.

The victim told police Spurgeon is his nephew.

Spurgeon is charged with armed robbery, interference with the reporting of a crime and resisting law enforcement.
