Elkhart man saves dog from burning home

An Elkhart man rescued his dog from his house that caught fire.

It happened around 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 8, in the 1800 block of Borneman Avenue, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at The Elkhart Truth.

The man returned from work to find his home filled with smoke. He found the dog cowering inside and got him out. Soon after flames engulfed the home.

Firefighters got it under control within a few minutes, but the house appeared to be a total loss.

The homeowner thought it could have stemmed from an electrical issue, but fire investigators hadn’t immediately determined the cause.
