Elkhart County Jail inmates will have new computer tablets, starting next month.

The JP6S devices will allow inmates to securely connect with loved ones on a more frequent basis.

Users can also access a range of free apps focused on re-entry and education, including eBooks, a job search application, Law Library, and more.

They’ll also have the option to subscribe to a low-cost monthly account, which allows them to e-message, place phone calls and access movies, games and music.

The tablets are designed for the prison use, with shatterproof glass, security screws and a double shield casing and they don’t allow access to the internet or social networks.

Do much for crime and punishment. They need to sit back and push their rack think about what they did. That’s what makes jail a punishment loss of what you had on the outside

I just hope that the cost of these tablets doesn’t delay the building of their prisoner water park and fun zone.

How come criminals are getting better care than the taxpayers footing the bill?

We need to go back to the old days of “here’s some steel, make some license plates” or to the really old days of “here’s a hammer, and there’s a pile of rocks” or to the REALLY old days of “let me slip this rope around your neck, got any last words?”

Only liberals can screw up jail.

Why on earth are we providing them an option for “movies, games and music”? Jail is jail, it should not offer entertainment.

Who is the person / persons responsible for this lunacy
Names please !
Let’s open the doors and put them up in the Hilton with room service . If there full
Maybe in a country club
Jail should be 24/7 behind bars . feed them through the bars .
Punishment that don’t hurt don’t work
I once worked with a felon who did time for robbery . He told me prison wasn’t that bad
He would rob again if the money was right .and his chances of getting caught were small .
After they serve their time all should forgiven except restitution to the victim .
I support the death penalty for murder
And would support public use of a rope
As a crime deterrent . This country is being destroyed by the liberals

I would also like to know who voted or approved of this so that I can write a letter and let them know that they lost a vote.

Jail is supposed to be hard. Being in jail is supposed to be a punishment for anti-social behavior/breaking laws. So now there is even less difference being in jail and out on the street. Perhaps even better. You get clothes, meals, a warm place to sleep and now a computer. What insanity!!! So the local drug lord will be able to conduct business from inside his or her cell????? How about ordering a hit on a rival gang member???? This is NUTS!!!!!

While I understand the comments against the tablets in the jail I also want to maybe see it in a different way. The tablets probably could cut down on jail fights.
Also makes it safer for the officers and jail staff.
Also some inmates housed in the jail are innocent until proven guilty. I do get the fact that people in jail are supposed to be punished trust me.
