A man in Elkhart was arrested after a traffic stop Saturday night.

Police were near the intersection of Main Street and Marion Street when they saw a man on motorcycle in which his battery had fallen off of the bike.

Upon pulling over the man, they learned he had an active warrant. That’s when officers say the suspect, 27-year-old Zachary Loomis allegedly cut one of the officer’s thumb and even grabbed for the officer’s taser.

After police restrained Loomis, they found methamphetamine and marijuana on him.

Loomis was taken into custody on a list of preliminary charges, including battery against a public officer, possession of meth, marijuana and paraphernalia.
