We’re hearing for the first time from new Notre Dame head football coach Marcus Freeman who wasted no time talking about the standards he will lead by.
During his formal introduction, University President Father John Jenkins said Freeman has Faith, Integrity, Academics, Team, Service & Determination to compete at the highest level. All, of which he said, makes up the heart of Notre Dame.
It’s into the deep end for Freeman’s first contest.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish just missed the cut to get into the College Football Playoff. The CFP Selection Committee ranked the Irish number-5 — one spot out of the top four teams who will compete for the championship. Notre Dame instead will square off with 6th-ranked Oklahoma State in the Fiesta Bowl on New Year’s Day.
Freeman says he hasn’t yet decided whether he will call the plays for the game.
