This tour requires all fans provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination, or negative testing within 72-hours of show, plus matching photo ID will be required to obtain entry to the venue on Tuesday, July 26.

The tour marks Weird Al’s long-anticipated return to the concert stage after his hugely successful Strings Attached Tour in 2019 where he performed each night alongside a full symphony orchestra at world-renowned venues such as New York’s Forest Hills Stadium, Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Washington D.C.’s Wolf Trap.

Once again drawing from his back catalogue of 14 studio albums, Weird Al promises to deliver a different set list every night, with no two shows the same. As before, rather than focusing on the hits from his career, the show will feature Yankovic’s non-parody material – the somewhat more obscure pastiches and original songs that have largely escaped the pop culture radar but are adored by his long-time fans.

And like the last Vanity Tour, he will be playing smaller, more intimate venues, leaving behind the high-octane theatrics that he’s known for and going bare-bones – no costumes, no props, no video screens… just Al and his band of almost four decades hanging out on stage, playing music.

I was really excited to go see Al at the Lerner! Then I got into the article:

“This tour requires all fans provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination, or negative testing within 72-hours of show”

Hard pass. I’ll skip your show instead of getting a jab or a swab, thanks.

Then I got to the part where “the show will feature Yankovic’s non-parody material – the somewhat more obscure pastiches and original songs” and lost all interest anyway. I like his original stuff, but putting on a concert where you deliberately don’t play what fans want to hear is just silly… Even for a guy named Weird Al!

I’m so excited that he’s bringing back This amazing tour. I saw this Self-Indulgent tour back when he did it in 2018, where each set list was entirely different each night, and it was probably one of my most favorite tours of his. I made it to multiple shows and was blown away by each night, due to the varying set list! Even if you don’t know his original music, it’s worth going just to see the amazing musicians on stage. This tour is by far one of his best, and I’m excited to see what he does with 2022 tour!
