Boy, 10, from Millersburg killed in crash at County Road 42 and State Road 19

A 10-year-old boy from Millersburg was killed when the vehicle he was riding in struck the side of a semi-trailer.

The collision happened around 4:20 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 20, at State Road 19 and County Road 42.

A 33-year-old Millersburg woman was driving eastbound on CR 42 when Elkhart County Sheriff’s deputies say she failed to stop at the stop sign at SR 19 and entered the intersection, striking the trailer of semi.

The woman’s vehicle became lodged under the semi trailer.

The woman and the boy had to be extricated from the vehicle.

Both were taken to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment.

The boy was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The woman suffered head injuries.

The driver of the semi was not injured.
