Man, 37, found shot on Main Street in Dowagiac

Police are investigating a shooting that injured a Dowagiac man.

Dowagiac Police were called just after 12 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 4, to the 300 Block of Main St. where they found a 37-year-old man who had been shot.

The victim said he had been walking and was talking with an acquaintance via social media about meeting in the area.

Upon meeting the acquaintance the acquaintance attempted to rob the victim and a struggle ensued.

During the struggle the victim was shot once and the suspect fled the area in a vehicle.

The victim was taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital where he remains in stable condition with a non-life threatening gunshot wound.
