SW Michigan hockey community raises $8000 to fight cancer

Local hockey teams in Southwest Michigan raised more than $8,000 dollars for the local fight against cancer.

The event, called “Slap The Puck Out Of Cancer,” brought youth hockey teams onto the ice wearing special jerseys that said “I play for…” and the name of someone to whom they were paying tribute. Some of those names were survivors, others victims in the fight against cancer.

WSBT reports that members of the area hockey family stepped up and raised more than $8,000, all of which was donated to the Berrien County Cancer Service.
