Indiana kidnap suspect arrested in Nebraska

An Indiana kidnapper was arrested in Nebraska this week.

The kidnapper, 52-year-old William Brittingham of Demotte, Indiana was arrested Wednesday night, near Grand Island, Nebraska. The kidnapping victim was rescued there as well.

That night, Nebraska State Patrol was alerted by police in Indiana that Brittingham and his kidnapping victim were believed to be traveling westbound in Nebraska. Nebraska troopers were then able to locate Brittingham’s truck, a Chevrolet Silverado, as he traveled westbound on I-80.

At 8:20 p.m., the NSP SWAT Team tried to make contact with Brittingham at mile marker 314. However, Brittingham immediately drove through the median and began traveling eastbound, but was caught soon after.

Brittingham was taken into custody, and a woman was rescued from his truck. That woman told police, Brittingham handcuffed her during the drive from Indiana to Nebraska. Police also found several guns inside the truck.

Brittingham is now in the Hall County Jail. He will be extradited back to Indiana.
