Michigan may have miscounted COVID deaths at long-term care facilities

(Public Domain)

Officials in Michigan believe the state undercounted its COVID deaths at long-term care facilities by nearly 30 percent.

An upcoming report from the Auditor General is expected to reflect that estimate. WVPE reports that state leaders in the Department of Health and Human Services are already pushing back against the report.

House Oversight Committee Chairman Steve Johnson says he wants to hold a hearing on the report this week, once the Auditor General’s office releases it on Monday.
