A man who pleaded guilty to reckless homicide for the shooting death of 26-year-old Jordan Garcia was sentenced to three years in prison and three years on probation.

Relatives of the victim are not happy. They say Reynaldo Marin, 22, should have been charged with murder, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at The Elkhart Truth.

The Elkhart Truth reports the shooting happened in March of 2020 outside an apartment on South 9th Street in Goshen.

Garcia’s father has he’s frustrated, saying Marin lied to the court and the investigation was botched. Marin claimed he acted in self-defense.

A man who was with Garcia at the time told investigators they had gone to an apartment to visit his sister when Marin, who was the woman’s boyfriend, opened the door with a gun in his hand and fired several shots, according to The Elkhart Truth.

Marin says he opened the door, saw a man in a hoodie and thought it was creepy so he tried to close the door when the other man tried to pull it back open, so he began firing.
