A 3rd Michigan lawsuit to be filed against redistricting plan

(95.3 MNC)

A new Michigan district map that seems to favor Republicans has resulted in a third lawsuit.

Friday, a coalition of advocacy groups announced their intention to challenge the newly-adopted Michigan House map, claiming a GOP bias in its design. Bridge Michigan reports that The League of Woman Voters of Michigan, Asian & Pacific Islander American Vote, the National Network for Arab American Communities, and others plan on filing the lawsuit in the coming week.

Former State Democratic Chair Mark Brewer said Michigan’s voters were very clear in 2018 that the goal of Proposal 2 was end partisan bias in legislative districts, something the commission failed to achieve.

The Democrats gerrymander far more than the GOP does. That’s not rhetoric, that’s simple fact. For example, Gutierrez’ former district in Chicago was two separate neighborhoods connected with a narrow corridor that ran down the center of a freeway. Look it up.

This is just more temper tantrum from the Democrats not getting their way.
