It’s 55 years in prison for an Elkhart County woman who pleaded guilty to stabbing her husband to death.

Blanca Hernandez, 32, admitted to killing Alejandro Vergara, 35, back in May.

It happened after an argument that was overheard by the couple’s children inside their home in Dunlap.

Police found Hernandez and Vergara in the basement covered in blood.

They say Vergara suffered multiple stab wounds.

At the time, she claimed he tried to attack her with a knife, but that he cut himself.

She was charged after her account of what happened didn’t match evidence at the scene.
