(Angelle Barbazon/The Elkhart Truth)

A woman has been accused of spitting on an Elkhart Police officer during her arrest while interrupting a traffic stop.

Police say the woman interrupted a traffic stop on Sunday shortly after 5 pm. The woman, 34 year-old Ashley Reyes of Bristol, approached a traffic stop in progress and began shouting obscenities at one of the officers. She was told to lower her voice and leave the area, and responded by shoving an officer and resisting while being handcuffed.

She also allegedly spat at the officer. She faces several charges.
