A former Goshen Police officer has been sentenced to one year in prison on strangulation and domestic battery charges.

The sentence is suspended, however, for Joshua Owens who was charged with felony counts of domestic battery and strangulation last February.

Owens pleaded guilty to misdemeanor counts of domestic battery and strangulation last fall.

He was sentenced to one year on each charge, to be served concurrently. He served one day in jail.

ABC 57 News reports Owens was placed on unpaid leave weeks after after his arrest. Owens resigned from the department in September.
