You cannot legally have a gun if you have been convicted of a felony. 37-year-old Samuel Strickland, of South Bend, is learning that with a federal prison sentence.

Strickland was sentenced this week to nearly two years in prison.

In 2019, police in Hammond answered a shots fired call and found Strickland with a gun.

When they ran his record, they found a previous conviction for aggravated battery with great bodily harm.
