A Fort Wayne man was arrested after police say he set fire to a Goshen hotel.

It happened last week at the Hampton Inn on Lincolnway East.

The Elkhart Truth reports first responders were called regarding a report of smoke coming from a room.

Kristofer Piotrowski, 28, was arrested after a standoff during which he threatened to harm himself.

Police say before they arrived he also set a fire in his hotel bathroom and tried to get into a woman’s car in the parking lot.

A woman who was in a car that Piotrowski tried to enter called 911 while police were enroute, due to the fire.

Police found the man inside another vehicle holding a knife to his own neck. He was taken into custody more than three hours later.
