A parent who was charged in the death of her 11 month-old daughter has received the maximum sentence.

On Friday, Tiffany Coburn was sentenced for the death of her daughter, Mercedes Lain. Coburn pleaded guilty to neglect of a dependent and will serve two and a half years at the Marshall County Jail. The child’s father, Kenneth Lain, received the same sentence for the same charge a week earlier.

Both parents admitted to doing drugs before handing the baby off to family friend Justin Miller, who is serving 65 years in prison after admitting to killing the child.
