After 2018 fatal duck boat accident, House Committee includes a safety plan in Coast Guard legislation

You may recall the duck boat accident in 2018–nine members of one family from Indianapolis died when the tourist boat capsized in a thunderstorm on Table Rock Lake in southern Missouri.

Congressman Andre Carson made a promise to the survivors that he would do all that he could to help. Now–almost four years later–a House Committee has included Carson’s duck boat safety plan in Coast Guard legislation.

Among other things, it would require personal flotation devices and closer attention to severe weather alerts.
