The former Jimtown High School teacher seen slapping a student on security footage has been arrested.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in relation to the February 25th battery of a student at Baugo Schools.

After a detailed investigation by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, 61-year-old Michael Hosinski was taken into custody on the preliminary charge of battery, as a level 6 felony.

A request for formal charges has been submitted to the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office.

Not long after the incident took place last Friday, Hosinski put in an “accelerated retirement request” that was granted unanimously by school board members earlier this week.

Hosinski qualifies for retirement through the Rule of 85: He is at least 55 years old and has worked at least 30 years.

I do not know him This seems like a huge tragedy Apparently has a great reputation. If so, one incident, one time loss of control ( we do not know what triggered this) ruins his life and reputation. There but for the grace of God go so many others

Given what he did he absolutely deserves it. He’s 100% done something like this before, just finally got it on film. I hope he rots.

Actions have consequences! Self control is sometimes difficult to maintiain, but essential when one is in the position of authority.

If it were your child he punched in the head and the boy ended up falling to the floor unconscious, (whether it was because he hit his head into the wall or because of the punch), you would not be so concerned about the teacher’s reputation. If he blows up like that and punches a child in the head, he deserves to go to jail for assault at the very least. I sure hope that the child is going to be okay.
