A newspaper delivery man was working when he was attacked by dogs Thursday morning.

Around 5:30 a.m., police officers responded to the 1800 block of Linden Avenue in Mishawaka after reports of shots fired.

There, police found 51-year-old Kevin Nilles, with injuries to the face and legs.

Police say Nilles was delivering newspapers when he was attacked by two rottweilers.

After several attempts to remove the dogs from the man, a neighbor shot at the dogs, killing one of them.

Nilles was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Humane Society took custody of the dogs.

They are currently following up on the dog’s owners at this time.

Just that someone wasn’t taking care of their dogs. This man also works at meijer and is so kind. He didn’t do anything. It was prob dark still and the dogs were loose bc of sh*** owners. It’s sad someone didn’t take care of them and one died. It breaks my heart
