Firefighter who died of cancer added to Police and Fire Memorial Wall in Elkhart

Another name has been added to the City of Elkhart’s Police and Fire Memorial wall.

We are holding a ceremony to reveal Travis Mahoney died in the line of duty on March 11th, 2020.

He was a firefighter/paramedic for Elkhart and died of small cell carcinoma at the age of 38.

The death was considered a line of duty because the cancer was considered by his doctors to have come from toxic exposure of smoke or toxins as a product of a fire.

Travis left behind a wife and 3 young children.
