A traffic stop on the Indiana Toll Road in Elkhart County resulted in the seizure of suspected methamphetamine, heroin, and drug paraphernalia by the Indiana State Police.

It was around 3:45 a.m. on Monday, April 11, when the state trooper stopped a tan 2005 Mercury for a traffic violation as it traveled eastbound on the toll road near the 90 mile marker.

During the traffic stop, the trooper determined that the driver, Amanda Garner, 39 of Elkhart, did not have a valid driver’s license and she was wanted on an active arrest warrant out of Elkhart County.

A female passenger in the Mercury initially gave a false name to Alvarez but was ultimately identified as Cary Beadle, 39 of Elkhart. Beadle did not have a valid driver’s license and she was also found to have an active warrant out of St. Joseph County.

A male passenger also did not have a valid driver’s license.

With no valid drivers present, the Mercury was impounded. Drug paraphernalia was discovered during an inventory of the vehicle. A search revealed approximately 33 grams of suspected methamphetamine, suspected heroin, 10 syringes, and pills.

Garner was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Paraphernalia, Driving While Suspended-Prior, and the active warrant. Garner was transported to the Elkhart County Jail.

Beadle was transported to an area hospital after an apparent medical episode requiring EMTs to respond to the scene. The male passenger was released from the scene.

Beadle was released from the hospital on Tuesday and transported to the Elkhart County Jail. She was arrested for Possession of a Narcotic, Possession of Heroin, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Syringe, and Identity Deception as well as for the active warrant out of St. Joseph County.
